The Sprint weekend at the 2025 F1 Brazilian GP has already kicked off with the first competitive session concluded on Friday. McLaren's Lando Norris took pole position for the Sprint, as he put in a best lap of 1:09.243 at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace on Friday.Norris managed to beat Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli by 0.097 seconds, with the Italian rookie surprising many by propping up on the front row. Norris' teammate and main championship rival, Oscar Piastri, will start Saturday's shortened race from P3, with George Russell alongside him in fourth.Fernando Alonso rounded off an impressive outing in Sao Paulo, securing a P5 starting position for the Sprint. The other championship protagonist, Max Verstappen, will start from P6 after a disappointing session for the Dutchman.Lance Stroll (P7), Charles Leclerc (P8), Isack Hadjar (P9), and Nico Hulkenberg (P10) rounded off the top 10 in Sprint qualifying for the Brazilian GP. He also added that he was happy to have managed to finish the task at hand in the end, which was to be the fastest in the session.Speaking in the post-session interview on Friday, Norris told Jamie Chadwick how he felt after taking pole for the Sprint in Brazil."It was a little bit tougher than I would have liked. It was close between a couple of cars, the Mercedes was quick on the soft (tires). It's always tricky when you've got the medium and the soft and knowing when to push or not push sometimes," said Norris."But we did the job we needed to do, which was to be the fastest today," he added.Lando Norris comes into the Brazilian GP weekend with a 1-point advantage over teammate Oscar Piastri in the drivers' standings. He is also 36 points ahead of Max Verstappen, who is still within a shout of claiming a fifth title in consecutive years.
