Lewis Hamilton vows to remain in the pursuit of success at the next round in Brazil despite his dismal weekend at the 2025 Mexican GP. Speaking to media, including Sportskeeda, the Ferrari driver suggested there were positives to take from the weekend.
The Briton remains in the pursuit of a podium and a win in the 2025 season. With Interlagos being a circuit where he’s achieved success in the past, Lewis Hamilton has been extremely popular at the Brazilian venue. Fan support has always added lap time to the seven-time world champion’s performance. The penalty in the Mexican GP thwarted his chances of getting a podium, as he was baffled by why he remained the only driver to be punished.
Lewis Hamilton lamented not knowing what to expect after his unwarranted penalty in the Mexican race, which dashed his podium hopes. He still believes there were positives to take from his race at large. He vowed to be persistent in his pursuit of success, devoid of the factors that thwarted his chances in Mexico.
Asked by Sportskeeda if he looked forward to the Brazilian GP weekend, where he’s popular and has enjoyed success, Lewis Hamilton said:
“I really, really don't know what to expect moving forward, but I'll keep trying, I'll get up tomorrow and train and try and prepare and I can't let those that are trying to, I can't let those that are not necessarily being helpful stop me from trying.”
Asked about the podium he lost, he replied:
“Still some positives to take from the weekend.”
Lewis Hamilton believes that Ferrari made progress at the Mexican GP weekend
Lewis Hamilton believes that Ferrari has made progress in performance at the Mexican venue. Lamenting factors outside his control, such as the penalty that cost him a solid result, the Briton rued his race. He felt the start was strong, but the penalty cost him positions that were difficult to recover later.
Hamilton also suggested that the medium tire stint towards the end was challenging and made him lack pace in the closing stages of the race. Speaking in a team statement after the Mexican GP, the seven time world champion said:
“Today didn’t go the way I hoped. I had a strong start, but things changed with a few decisions that were beyond my control and it just wasn’t possible to recover the race after that. The stint on the Medium tyre was challenging as it just didn’t suit the track today, and the final phase lacked the pace we needed. Overall though, the car has felt good all weekend and I’m grateful for the progress we’ve made as a team. I’m looking forward to Brazil - it’s one of my favourite places to race and I can’t wait to be there in red for the first time.”
The ten-second penalty during the race changed the trajectory of Lewis Hamilton’s race, thwarting his chances of a podium. He eventually finished eighth in the race, while his teammate Charles Leclerc secured a solid second place.
The result helped Ferrari eclipse Mercedes by one point in the constructors' championship, returning them to second place. Red Bull also trails them by a narrow margin of ten points.
