The F1 penalty points system is put in place to keep the driving standards in check. As a part of this system, every driver transgression means penalty points get added to the driver's superlicense. The number of points for a transgression depends on its severity.
These transgressions could be anything from causing a collision, dangerous driving, speeding in the pit lane, etc. They were first introduced in 2014 and coincided with the beginning of the turbo hybrid era.
As part of this system, only one driver has overshot the threshold of 12 F1 penalty points. Kevin Magnussen did so last season and was hence penalised. As we move on from the F1 Abu Dhabi GP, where do the drivers stack up in terms of penalty points? Let's take a look.
