Prior to their clash in Paris, Bergs and Michelsen had played against each other twice, once in the qualification rounds at the Cincinnati Masters and once at the Winston-Salem Open. Michelsen had claimed the wins on both these occasions and he was a strong favorite to repeat the feat yet again.

However, Zizou Bergs turned the tables on the American at the Paris Masters. The World No.41 raced away to a 6-3 win in the opening set, and while Alex Michelsen staged a brief comeback in the second set, Bergs closed out the decider 6-2 to move forward into the second round. After the match, the Belgian star celebrated his triumph with a moonwalk, while his opponent smashed his racket in anger. Watch a video of the moment below:

Sinner was last seen in action at the Vienna Open, where he led an excellent campaign, defeating the likes of Flavio Cobolli, Alexander Bublik, and Alex de Minaur en route to the finals. In the summit clash, the Italian outdid Alexander Zverev after a hard fought battle to lift his fourth trophy of the year.

Zizou Bergs and Jannik Sinner have never played each other before, but the latter will be the undoubted favorite for the win going into their round of 32 encounter tomorrow. The winner of this battle will go on to face Francisco Cerundolo or Miomir Kecmanovic for their round of 16 match.
