The release time for Warframe's big fall update, The Vallis Undermind, has now been confirmed. Coming later today (October 15 PDT/UTC), this update will expand Orb Vallis (as you may have guessed from the name) with a new underground tileset accessible from Fortuna. Plus, it's bringing the fun-guy-themed 62nd unique Warframe, a big facelift for Archguns, and much more.
Not all the QoL adjustments coming with the update have been unveiled yet, so many are awaiting the time of Warframe: The Vallis Undermind's release today.

How big is Warframe's Vallis Undermind update?
Digital Extremes has now revealed the official file size estimates of The Vallis Undermind update. It's bigger than expected, especially on Xbox with over 20 GB of download size. Here's the size for all platforms:
- PC: ~5.06 GB for DX11; ~6.27 GB for DX12; Estimated total size of Warframe after download: ~51 GB
- PlayStation 4: ~19.55 GB (Total Size on PS4: 55.34 GB)
- PlayStation 5: ~12.65 GB (Total Size on PS5: 52.09 GB)
- Xbox One: ~21.64 GB (Total Size on XB1: 60.00 GB)
- Xbox Series: ~21.8 GB (Total Size on XSS / XSX: 60.20 GB)
- Nintendo Switch: ~13.32 GB (Total Size on NSW: 23.72 GB)
The update does ship with some new content in a new subterranean tileset, but the file size is growing mainly due to a LOD remaster, improving distant detail on all meshes. This is most likely focused on the open worlds (Orb Vallis, Plains of Eidolon, Cambion Drift, Duviri).
Furthermore, the console and mobile (iOS) versions will receive a cert update, and the devs have mentioned that the total file size on consoles is more "inflated" than intended, and should be fixed with this update.
"We wanted to inform you of a bug that is inflating the download and overall size of Warframe. Unfortunately, this will require an additional cert to fix and remove the issue. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding in this matter."
How to prepare for Warframe The Vallis Undermind

If you're reading this right ahead of release, there's not really much to prepare for in the lead-up to Warframe: The Vallis Undermind. The big player-driven market change with this update will be rapidly decreasing prices for Arcane Hot Shot and other newer rare Arcanes. At this point, the prices have already dropped substantially, but you should probably sell off your spares now if you were looking to make any profit.
Otherwise, a lot of the changes in the upcoming patch is pending some player testing. We don't know, for example, whether the new formalized Damage Attenuation formula post-rework will favor Multishot or base damage, or how good Archguns will actually be in practice.
Finally, one other important thing to do with The Vallis Undermind update is to simply log in before October 21, which will get you a free Oberon Warframe. Even if you already have him, have a copy fed to the Helminth, and have the Prime on top, it's still a free Warframe slot for you.
