How to tame Ossidon in ARK Survival Ascended

The Ossidon is the new beast added to ARK Survival Ascended on November 18, 2025’s update. If you have the Lost Colony Expansion Pass, you’re able to tame this beast right away, provided you have the power and tools to do so. A mighty, horned beast, an abomination, one might say, it’s now available in-game, if you wish to add something truly terrifying to your roster of tamed beasts.

The Ossidon has a pretty challenging taming process too in ARK Survival Ascended, and it could perhaps frustrate players. It might even change when the Lost Colony map drops in December 2025, but we don’t know that for certain. Here’s everything we know about this huge new beast.

How to find Ossidon in ARK Survival Ascended

If you want to find an Ossidon in ARK Survival Ascended, you need to go to the coldest part of the current map, which is the central ice area. Odds are good you’ll find Ossidon spawns in the northwestern portion of the map, shown below (Ragnarok map).

On The Center map, you can find it in either of the two small icy areas, and on the Valguero map, you can find one in the northern icy section of the map. For Ragnarok, you need to go to the central icy area.

They didn’t seem to spawn in the other icy areas, though. We did look there, and it appears they only show up in the coldest spots on the whole map. They’re often around other creatures, typically trying to fight and kill them.

ARK Survival Ascended Ossidon taming guide

When you find the Ossidon that you want to tame in ARK Survival Ascended, make sure you’ve loaded yourself with lots of Tranq Darts. Shoot it until it reaches about half Torpor, and the Ossidon will become dazed.

You need to then run up to the Ossidon, and jump on its back. It’s going to begin rolling a ball of filth, and you will officially be on a timer. Thankfully, the timer is on the screen so you can tell how long you have. During this time, you need to roll up as many small and medium monsters as you can into the ball of filth. You get a progress bonus if they die, too.

If you try to roll up a large monster, you’ll be kicked off, and have to leave the area, come back, and re-tranq the Ossidon. It’s likely that you may not tame him completely in the first try, though. We recommend rolling the ball down into the tundra areas nearby, as there are lots of small to medium monsters you can roll up in quick succession.

If you get kicked off, run away until you’re out of aggro range, come back, and immediately begin tranqing the Ossidon once again in ARK Survival Ascended. When you fill up the taming bar, you will have successfully captured this powerful monster.

What’s the console command to spawn Ossidon in ARK Survival Ascended?

Thankfully, if you don’t want to hunt down an Ossidon, you can simply use cheat commands to summon one. You can summon one at specific levels, one that’s a random level, or one that’s already tamed. Here are the Cheat Codes to spawn an Ossidon in ARK Survival Ascended:

Level 150 Ossidon: admincheat GMSummon "SnowMonster_Character_BP_C" 150
Wild, Random Ossidon: admincheat Summon SnowMonster_Character_BP_C
Tamed Ossidon (Random Level): admincheat SummonTamed SnowMonster_Character_BP_C

All Ossidon abilities and controls

The Ossidon is a monster in ARK Survival Ascended that you can ride around on, and it has a pretty cool looking saddle, to boot. If you want to craft the Saddle, you need at least 40 Engram Points and craft it at the Smithy. The material components aren’t bad, either, such as Metal Ingots. You need:

Fiber x200
Metal Ingot x150
Hide x380

Thankfully, the Ossidon’s crazy powerful, and has some pretty great attacks, to boot. Here’s everything that it has access to:

Melee Attacks: Left attack, Right attack, double arm smash/club attack.
Icicle Blast: Holding RMB will create a blue reticle on the screen. Releasing this fires icicles at your target. Clicking LMB/RMB at the same time will instant cast this at your target. Deals a ton of damage, and inflicts Frostbite, inflicts a slow, and is an AOE attack.
Snowball/Ball of Filth: Pressing C will make the Ossidon start rolling up a ball as it moves. It takes a little bit to build momentum, and will catch a few small and medium sized creatures in it. Once momentum is built up, it’s basically unstoppable until you hit the target you’re after. Destroys all stones and trees hit by the growing snowball. Great for hitting large creatures. If you roll the ball through your ice attacks, it gets faster and grows larger.
Monstrous Affection (Passive): The Ossidon loves its owner, and the longer you’re riding it, the stronger it gets (per minute ridden). This bonus is permanent and affects all stats, so you’re encouraged to ride it as often and long as possible.
