Sturmtiger is one of the Legendary tanks in War Thunder. Introduced during the game's 10th anniversary, the vehicle is originally called the 38cm Sturmmörser. It's a German tank manufactured by Alkett and is quite popular among players due to its ability to efficiently destroy structures and take down rival tanks in a single shot. Although the controls are something many struggled with.
While not a meta, it’s one of the most powerful tanks you can ride into battle. This guide will cover everything about the Sturmtiger in War Thunder, including how to get it in 2025.
All the ways to get the Sturmtiger in War Thunder

To date, there have been only two ways to get Sturmtiger in War Thunder. The first was to complete the Dreams Come True event during the game's 10th anniversary. While you didn’t need to finish the entire event, completing six stages was necessary to get the tank as a reward. Since then, it hasn’t been back as part of the annual event or in the market.
The second method, which is still viable to get the Sturmtiger, is through loot crates. However, the chances of getting the tank through this way are extremely low. The crates offer a variety of rewards, including previously released vehicles, but the drop rate for them is much lower and diminishes even more if you want a particular one.

Sturmtiger tank stats in War Thunder

The name 38cm Sturmmörser comes from its 380 mm RW61 mortar, which is essentially a high-explosive rocket that deals significant damage. In addition, the tank also boasts heavy armor, allowing it to take direct hits and survive. However, that powerful shot takes almost a minute to reload.
It features a five-person crew and smoke grenades as support. Here are the tank stats:
- Armour: 100 / 80 / 80 mm
- Turret: 150 / 80 / 80 mm
- Visibility: 111 %
- Engine power: 700 hp
- Max speed: 40 km/h
- Weight: 65 t
- Power-to-weight ratio: 10.8 hp/t
- Optics: Rangefinder
- Ammunition: 380 mm RW61 mortar
- Coaxial weapon: 7.92 mm MG34 machine gun
- Reload: 52 to 40s
- Armor penetration: 82 at all distances
If you want to add the vehicle to your collection, we recommend waiting for it to appear again as an event reward. While the 13th anniversary this year did not include the 38cm Sturmmörser, there’s a chance Gaijin Entertainment will bring it back at some point in the future. If you want to take your chances with the loot crates, make sure to check if the tanik is available as a possible reward first.
