Diablo 4 fans have been chomping at the bit for the Paladin to return, and it finally has! Coming with the Lord of Hatred expansion, it’s one of the main features of the upcoming content drop to be excited about. It’s a class that’s been teased and hinted at, not to mention been the focus of at least one leak. However, when the Lord of Hatred expansion was officially announced at The Game Awards, the Paladin, as well as one other mystery class were hinted at.

Thankfully, you can pick up and play the Paladin class immediately in Diablo 4, but there is a catch: it’s definitely not free. You’re going to have to cough up some money and hope the Lord of Hatred expansion is great on launch, because that’s how you get this class.

How to unlock the Paladin class in Diablo 4

If you want to unlock the Paladin class in Diablo 4, all you have to do is pre-purchase Lord of Hatred. That’s it! If you do, you will immediately get access to the Paladin in the current season, as well as on the Eternal servers.

There’s no catch, no extra work to be done, but that said, it’s certainly not free. There are three different versions, but you just need to get the baseline one, should you want to play the Paladin in D4. The edition costs are:

  • Standard Edition: $39.99
  • Deluxe Edition: $59.99
  • Ultimate Edition: $89.99

Paladins are a melee-based class in D4, with access to Holy Damage, and of course, massive shields. They can do Holy, Fire, and Physical Damage, and have powers like Holy Bolt, Blessed Hammer, and like in Diablo 2, Auras. They can use a variety of weapons, such as One-Handed Swords, One-Handed Maces, One-Handed Axes, Flails, Shields, Two-Handed Swords, Two-Handed Maces, Two-Handed Axes, and Polearms.

Their primary mechanic is Oaths, and there are four to choose from. Each offers a variety of enhancements and playstyle. Disciple, Judicator, Juggernaut, and Zealot are the options here. It’s an exciting time to be a Diablo 4 fan, and I guess that Blizzard really did “hear the fans”. It was one of the biggest things we wanted to see in the upcoming expansion.
