Necromancers continue to dominate the Diablo 3 meta for their versatility and highly rewarding gameplay mechanics, and in Season 37, they will see much more improvement from their core system using the Kanai’s Cube system. This returning system allows you to mix and match gear slots with legendaries from any category.
In this guide, we will break down the five best Necromancer builds in Diablo 3 Season 37.
5 best Diablo 3 builds to play as a Necromancer in Season 37
1) Legacy of Dreams (LoD) Death Nova

The LoD Death Nova is the most explosive necromancer build in Diablo 3. It is capable of eviscerating screens full of enemies with minimal effort. The build is set around delivering consistent DPS and extremely high AoE bursts. The build lacks focused damage against single targets but excels in situations that require you to eliminate packs of enemies, like in the Greater Rifts.
Core gear setup:
- Funerary Pick
- Iron Rose
- Legacy of Dreams
- Bloodtide Blade
- Nemesis Bracers
2) Trag’Oul Death Nova

The Trag’Oul Death Nova is quite similar to the LoD Death Nova, but the Trag’Oul’s set allows the build to have increased survivability. That said, it lacks the high DPS of the LoD Death Nova. The Trag’Oul Death Nova offers an easy setup with strong AoE damage output, making it an excellent choice for clearing mobs in both group and solo mode.
This build is also weak against singular targets, just like the LoD variant, and requires a ton of Greater Rift fishing.
Core gear setup:
- Trag’Oul’s Avatar
- Funerary Pick
- Iron Rose
- Bloodtide Blade
- Nemesis Bracers
3) Masquerade Bone Spear

The Masquerade Bone Spear is a fast-paced Necromancer build capable of delivering tremendous amounts of AoE damage and is relatively easy to build with the Masquerade set. Although a fun build to play, it has a high learning curve. This build relies heavily on positioning to deliver the maximum amount of damage.
It gets an elite clearing ability using the Aughild’s Authority set and gains a mobility-focused build using Captain Crimson’s Trimmings set. With three variants, the Bone Spear Necromancer grants tremendous amounts of versatility.
Core gear setup:
- Masquerade of the Burning Carnival
- Gelmindor's Marrow Guards
- Briggs' Wrath

4) Inarius Death Nova

If you want a survivalist build with massive AoE burst damage, the Inarius Death Nova is the best Necromancer option. This build offers a high-toughness setup that is easy to play with a simple skill rotation. As other Death Nova builds, this one also suffers from low single-target damage but excels at shredding mobs.
Core gear setup:
- Grace of Inarius
- Funerary Pick
- Iron Rose
- Bloodtide Blade
- Nemesis Bracers
5) Rathma Army of the Dead (AotD)

The Rathma Army of the Dead is the ultimate Rift Guardian slayer, with massive burst damage potential, but requires a ton of cooldown management. While the AotD build gets streamlined by utilizing Siphon Blood in its skill rotations, it is still one of the squishiest builds in Diablo 3. This build is highly dependent on its summons and requires skillful gameplay due to its low mobility.
Although the build is an absolute powerhouse, the lack of mobility makes it difficult to master. But once you have understood the mechanics and mastered positioning, this build can effortlessly take down the toughest enemies in Diablo 3.
Core gear setup:
- Bones of Rathma
- Funerary Pick
- Bonds of C'Lena

Honorable mentions
1) LoD Corpse Explosion
If you are looking for a tankier Necromancer build, the LoD Corpse Explosion is the best choice for you. This build offers a safe setup, making it more sustainable than other glass cannon builds like the Death Nova. The corpse explosion thrives at inflicting AoE damage on dead enemies and summons, making it great for burst-damage rotations.
But even then, the LoD Corpse Explosion build suffers from low mobility, high cooldowns, and specific gear requirements.
With Season 37 bringing back Kanai's Cube, these builds will become more effective, as players combine new sets like never before. So when the latest season goes live on December 5, 2025, you can expect major shifts in the Diablo 3 meta builds.
