As Destiny 2 closes the year out with the Renegades update, some players are wondering whether it's possible to do it solo. This is more of a newcomer question, as most veterans in this game will know the answer: yes, you absolutely can solo it. The campaign missions are always tuned properly for solo play, although there's no extra laurels for doing it all alone.
You can also run the campaign at any power level, since there's no reset like Edge of Fate.
Should you do the Destiny 2: Renegades campaign fully solo?

Destiny 2 imposes additive health padding on all enemies if you run it in a co-op squad. The Renegades campaign does not detract from this law, so there's potentially a big incentive there for solo being the preferrable mode. If you have any semblance of a build synergy, the shielded mobs and Behemoths and (especially) bosses are just much easier to breeze through solo.
I haven't beat the campaing fully yet, so there could be some special mobs or puzzles that's easier to tag-team as a duo, but if your build is good, the overall mission completion time should be faster solo.
On the other hand, solo also gives you the pace of your own liking, and there are some narrative beats that old-timer Destiny 2 fans will greatly enjoy about Renegade.
What level should you be before you start the Destiny 2 Renegades campaign solo?
For those who are doing it solo, you don't need to worry too much about the Destiny 2 Renegades campaign's power level requirement. Namely, it doesn't have any on paper. There's no Light level reset this time, but the content will scale to whatever your current numbers are.
That being said, the general advice given before all campaigns still apply here. If you want good loot with Tier-5 rolls, it's best to be 450+ (the current power cap is 550).
Be Brave vs Be a Legend
Like with all campaigns, you are also given the choice of either "Be Brave" or "Be a Legend". The latter has harder enemies, which will always be 20 combat power levels over you (which can prolong some fights greatly especially if you're in a Fireteam). If you're doing Destiny 2 Renegades solo, though, the classic trusty builds like Getaway Artist - Prismatic Warlock will breeze through it as usual.
The bottom line is, even Legendary mode is acheivable solo quite easily if you find one of the many somewhat-meta builds for your class. The reward for beating the campaign on Legendary (solo or otherwise) is a new Rengades Exotic aligned to the class you beat it with, plus level-apporpriate gear (for reference, I got ~370 gear going in as power level 300).
