Like every previous game in the series, Borderlands 4 has Shift Codes that can get you in-game stuff (most importantly, Golden Keys). For those who never played another Borderlands before: the code-redeeming system here is tied to SHIFT, the account network system patented by Gearbox (and so far just used in Borderlands games).
Since 2K is committed to keeping its players engaged with live-service elements like weekly wildcard challenges, Borderlands 4 will likely keep getting Shift Codes once or twice every month. In this guide, we'll track all the currently available Shift Code in Borderlands that haven't already hit their expiry date.
Borderlands 4 gets new Shift Codes at least twice every week or thereabouts, so if you haven't seen any new keys in a while, make sure to check back soon.
All Golden Key Shift codes in Borderlands 4 (working in October 2025)
At the time of writing, there are multiple Shift Codes for Borderlands 4, which unlock one Golden Key each. Furthermore, there are a handful of long-term Shift Codes unlocking cosmetics and a pretty good mobbing Legendary (Firebreak) at lvl 25.
Those on PC can simply copy-paste the Shift Codes from here into the game, and those who are on consoles can do the same on the SHIFT website.
Golden Key codes working in October 2025
Note that each Shift code can only be entered only once into a Shift account. Furthermore, the expiry timings shown here are approximates. To be safe, try to redeem these codes at least an hour before the expiry times listed here.
Bookmark this page for more up-to-date Shift Codes. Golden Key codes come out quite often, but they also expire in 48 hours (with the rare exception of permanent codes).

What do Golden Keys unlock in Borderlands 4?
- Like all previous games in the series, Golden Keys in Borderlands 4 can unlock any Golden chest, located in faction Towns (Launchpad, Carcadia).
- These chests only open once per Golden Key usage, and generate up to eight purple-tier or higher rarity gear.
- This can also include multiple Legendaries in one go if you get lucky.
The gear from the Golden Chest always scale to your level, so if you're in a lootless slump and looking for some level-appropriate gear to power through, it might seem like a good idea to use it once in a while.
However, we strongly recommend you only use them on lvl 50 characters, and potentially withhold using any Golden keys till Q1 2026, which is when Pearlescent-rarity gear will be introduced to Borderlands 4. Although it's not really a certainty, Pearlescents might be possible to obtain very rarely via Shift Codes. This is speculation on our part, but it's better to be safe, as there are so many other ways you can farm for level-appropriate gear.
How to get Break Free pack from Shift Code in Borderlands 4

Other than the Golden Keys, an exclusive reward avaialble via Shift Code in September 2025 is the Break Free Pack. This includes two cosmetics you can apply on your ECHO-4 Drone (the gizmo that does the hacking for you), and much more through two Reward Caches.
Both of these can be unlocked by applying the following Shift key in Borderlands 4:
- JS63J-JSCWJ-CFTBW-3TJ3J-WJS5R
All contents of the Break Free pack in Borderlands 4

The Break Free pack unlocked via this Shift code can come with more than just ECHO-4 Painjobs. Specifically, here's what I got from the two reward caches unlocked by this code:
- Break Free Pack: Firebreak Legendary Shield (Lvl 25), Break Free Vault Hunter style (account-wide; for all characters), Break Free Echo-4 Paintjob
- Knox Cache: Kn0x Paintjob
To get these, you have to go to the first character you load in, and then activate the two Reward Caches from their inventory. The Break Free pack Shift Code is available for a long time, so there's no rush.
You can also get the Hazard Pay weapon skin for free by subscribing to the newsletter, and claim it once you boot up Borderlands 4.
Unique Vault Hunter skins Shift Code in Borderlands 4

Any Borderlands 4 player can now claim the free unique Vault Hunter Skins via Shift Codes. These are available as community-wide rewards for completing weekend challenges.
- Rafa Savings Savior Skin: TZXT3-XJXCB-CXBJW-BTTJT-9SK6B
- Amon Cult Classic Skin: JZ6BJ-SBR5J-WF3BK-BT3BB-TX9HB
Unlike the other Shift Codes, this one will not expire till 2031, so you have quite a long time to claim it. The neat part is that Gearbox has confirmed it will run even more weekend challenges like this, so future Shift Codes for free skins in Borderlands 4 should keep coming.
How to use Shift Codes in Borderlands 4?
Create a Shift Account
In order to redeem any Shift codes, you'll need a Shift account first. To create one, head over to the official website, and then:
- Create a new account, the button is found on the lower right
- If you already have an account, you can just log in from this page
- You can create an account via Steam, Epic Store, PSN, or other platforms. However, we would recommend you create an account with your mail ID, and then connect your accounts from these platforms later.
Once you're done verifying the account through a mail ID, you are ready for Shift Code redemption in Borderlands 4.
Console users: Redeem the Shift Codes on the SHIFT website on your account

Once you have a Shift account and are logged into it, you can paste your Shift Code and claim it from the website itself. Go to "Rewards" on the left panel and you can see the Shift Redemption bar on the top.
This will deposit all the items (the ocassional cosmetics and Borderlands 4 Golden Keys) directly into your in-game account. Since it's integrated into the game on all platforms, you can simply use the Golden Keys or equip the cosmetics (after opening caches where required) right off the bat.
PC players: Paste the code in-game

Those who are on PC, you can just put your code from in-game. Go to the Shift tab from the main menu, and then go to Rewards. The paste function (ctrl+v) works here, so you can just copy the Shift Codes off this article and paste it there.
When you successfully put in an active Shift Code, the status will be shown in a notification below immediatley. You can go back and view everything you've claimed from the Reward History section, including a log of all the Borderlands 4 Golden Keys you have picked up with Shift Codes.
Note that there's no differentiation in terms of which platforms can activate Shift Codes in what way. Shift accounts are available across platforms, and both in-game and website key redemptions do the same thing.
Borderlands 4 Expired Shift Codes
Expired Shift codes are no longer valid for entry into the rewards system. Even though they have no utility, we have compiled this list so that you can distinguish between duplicates on your account and outright expired keys.
