ARK Survival Ascended: All bosses on the Valguero map

One of the most challenging tasks in ARK Survival Ascended is defeating map bosses. The Valguero Ascended revamps all existing content with better visuals in the game and introduces a new boss encounter. However, the update also removed the infamous trio of the Forsaken Oasis, meaning even with a new boss, the total encounters remain the same.

This guide covers all the bosses you’ll face throughout your journey across Valguero in ARK Survival Ascended, along with the requirements to fight their different variants.

1) Grendel

Grendel is the new Megaraptor boss in ARK Survival Ascended Valguero. It deals a decent bit of damage, but the thing you need to look out for is the bleed effect that can quickly chip away at the health of your tames. While the fight itself isn’t difficult, there are multiple gimmick mechanics.

During the fight, the boss will become immune and jump around. There’s also a part where the entire arena will be covered in fog, cutting all visibility and forcing you to light a specific area to continue the fight.

2) Broodmother Lysrix

The Arachnid boss, Broodmother Lysrix, returns, and much like the old Valguero in Ark: Survival Evolved, the boss deals a lot of damage. It’s the second strongest boss in the game that can shred down all of your tames very quickly.

A good strategy before the fight is to have a lot of food in the inventory and take a healing tame to keep everyone alive. Additionally, the Courage Roar of Yutyrannus is also a great way to boost ally damage to make the fights shorter.

To fight the boss, you'll need to reach The Lair, a cave system in the Redwood Forest. The Broodmother is guarding the entrance of the cave, at coordinates (74, 42).

As mentioned, the developers have removed the Megapithecus, Dragon, and Manticore gank fight in the Forsaken Oasis to bring players something original for the DLC, and the Grendel serves as a great new challenge for new and old players alike.
