During The Game Awards 2025, Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred was officially announced. An expansion that’s been teased and hinted at for quite a while, it will wrap up the current storyline around Mephisto. Scheduled to release in April 2026, players still have quite a while to go before it launches. That said, it can be worth it to pre-purchase the game, if you’re a fan of the Paladin class.

Any edition of Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred you pre-purchase will immediately unlock the Paladin, so that’s something to consider if you want to play it now. The prices and additional cosmetics vary between editions, so we’re here to help you make an informed decision.

There’s even an option if you want to give the gift of demon slaying for the holidays, with the Age of Hatred Collection. It’s the only version that comes with the base game, but also comes with both expansions, like every other version of Lord of Hatred. Which edition of Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred is right for you?

It really comes down to what matters to you in terms of purchasing an expansion. This isn’t really any different from purchasing a World of Warcraft expansion. There’s the baseline one, that comes with the most important stuff, and then a pair of deluxe versions that come with lots of cosmetics and optional items.

Thankfully, all versions come with the Paladin early unlock, extra stash tab, 2 additional character slots, and the World of Warcraft Housing Decor items. If that’s all you care about? Just grab the Standard Edition, and you’ll be good to go.

The Deluxe Edition comes with a few extra cosmetics, like a cosmetic set for the Paladin, a new mount, a pet, and a Premium Battle Pass Bundle. This lets you unlock all the rewards for a Season, without spending any of your Platinum.

The Ultimate Edition comes with that, cosmetic armor for all the other classes, an amazing Town Portal, Back Trophy, and about $25 USD worth of Platinum (3,000). Personally, I’ve always liked the Ultimate Editions, because I love the cosmetics, but there’s nothing wrong with not having those. Diablo 4 already has amazing cosmetics you can farm for free, after all.
