John Cena has dropped a bombshell on Brock Lesnar's WWE retirement. The Franchise Player, in a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet on his show, Insight, stated that Lesnar can retire next year at SummerSlam in Minnesota, which will take place on August 1 and 2.
This comes as a huge revelation from John Cena as The Beast Incarnate returned to WWE programming this year at SummerSlam, after a gap of nearly two years. If next year's SummerSlam is going to be his last, then WWE might have already zeroed in on his final opponent.
In this listicle, we will discuss five final opponents for Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam next year.
#5 Gunther
Gunther is already rumoured to be Brock Lesnar's final opponent in WWE. The Ring General retired Goldberg in July this year. He will face John Cena in a retirement match at WWE SNME this month, and if he beats Cena, he'll add another feather in his cap. Moreover, after Cena, Gunther will be the favourite to square off against Brock Lesnar also.

In fact, Gunther would also be the perfect opponent for Lesnar. He would be the apt choice of WWE to allow Lesnar to pass the torch to. The Austrian Scion is one of the best in-ring personalities in the company today. Ever since he arrived on the scene, Gunther has only impressed the fans. He is the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion and a two-time World Heavyweight Champion. He would be the perfect opponent for The Beast Incarnate, if there's a retirement match next year.
#4 Bron Breakker
Bron Breakker is another superstar who could face Brock Lesnar in his last match in WWE. In fact, Bron Breakker's main roster debut coincidentally happened because of Lesnar only. The Beast was supposed to return at Royal Rumble 2024, but his alleged involvement in the Janel Grant lawsuit forced the company to change the plans for him.
Lesnar's spot in the Rumble was given to Breakker. The Badass subsequently went on to make his main roster debut after that. Since then, Bron Breakker has made strides in WWE. Moreover, as a wrestler, Bron has impressed the critics. He is fast, lethal and is considered the future of the company. The 10-time WWE Champion can easily pass off the torch to The Badass next year.
#3 Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre could be another superstar to face Lesnar in his retirement match at SummerSlam next year. The Scottish Warrior has in the past defeated The Beast in a one-on-one match. It was WrestleMania 36, where McIntyre pinned Lesnar to win the WWE Championship. However, the match took place in a closed arena with no audience as the novel coronavirus led to lockdowns all over the world.
In a way, McIntyre never got his due for beating Lesnar. The promotion could give him another chance next year at SummerSlam. And Brock Lesnar would be more than willing to put over McIntyre in his retirement match.
#2 Roman Reigns
The Tribal Chief could be another choice of the company as Brock Lesnar's final opponent. Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar had several encounters in the past, with The OTC1 securing significant wins against The Beast. The two have clashed in six singles matches till now, out of which Roman Reigns has won four, while Lesnar has managed to win two matches.
Brock's matches with Lesnar have always been a spectacle to watch. It will be interesting to see if the company books yet another match or the final match between the two.
#1 Jacob Fatu
The Samoan Werewolf could also be booked to face Lesnar in the latter's retirement match. The two have not had a face-off yet in WWE. Jacob made his debut last year after WrestleMania 40, when Lesnar was absent. Their clash would be a thrilling affair for the fans as well.
Jacob has been impressive with his in-ring skills so far. He was also the breakout debut superstar last year. In Bloodline 2.0, Jacob eclipsed all the other members.
WWE does have long-term plans for him. Getting him to turn face was part of the big push the company has been aiming for him. Therefore, there are chances that he may end up facing Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam next year.
