It's no secret that today's WWE roster is loaded with big-ticket names, many of whom fail to break into the main scene for reasons beyond their talent. A recent report suggests LA Knight fans must keep their expectations in check regarding his future, as the company has no plans to ever crown him a World Champion.
While The Megastar has only grown in popularity in recent years, it can be argued that it hasn't received the same level of support from WWE's creative team, led by Triple H. A couple of US Title reigns aside, Knight has primarily played second-fiddle to other marquee stars on the roster.
That said, he's now in contention to become John Cena's final opponent, and it remains to be seen if he manages to defeat Gunther to secure the spot at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13. Wrestling insider Ibou of Self Made Pro recently said that those within WWE didn't view LA Knight as worthy of carrying a World Title around his shoulders.
“They don’t like him (LA Knight) like that. Yeah, they don’t like him like that.” (H/T - Ringside News)

LA Knight's popularity may not move the needle for him in WWE
Furthermore, Ibou explained that, no matter how popular a wrestler is with fans and drives tons of merchandise sales, if they don't have the support of those within the company, they are unlikely to make it big. He added that the bookers would never hand them the right opportunities unless they are forced to.
“You see a wrestler getting huge pops, moving tons of merch, and your question–and this is any company, right?–your question becomes: when are they going to get the ball? Why haven’t they been given the ball? It’s been years, they’ve been hot, so what’s going on? The answer is always that the booker just doesn’t want to give them the ball. They don’t care to give them the ball. They will never do it unless they are forced to.”
Even in The Last Time is Now Tournament, Gunther is the overwhelming favorite to defeat LA Knight and become John Cena's final WWE opponent. Only time will tell what's in store for The Megastar if he falls short against The Ring General.
