WWE could be bringing back a retired premium live event after more than five years. The company filed a trademark this week, though it was issued for "Goods & Services."

One of the premium live events from the late 2000s to the 2010s was Night of Champions, which was replaced by Clash of Champions in 2016. WWE held it four times in 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2020 before it was discontinued.

It was typically scheduled in late September, except in 2017, when it was held in December. The PLE was promoted as the one night when all championships are defended.

According to a USPTO filing issued on December 1 (H/T Cory Hays of BodySlam.net), WWE has filed to trademark Clash of Champions. The status for it is awaiting examination, with an examiner yet to be assigned. The company has already met all the requirements, so it's going to be a waiting game.

It will be interesting to see if Clash of Champions returns and replaces Night of Champions next year. The latter made its return in 2023 and 2025 in Saudi Arabia, though it featured title and non-title matches.

The 2023 event had five championship matches out of seven, and the 2025 event only had two out of a six-match card. As mentioned above, Clash of Champions was usually held in September, while the past two Night of Champions were in May and June, respectively.

WWE's final PLE of 2025 was a success

The final PLE of the WWE calendar in 2025 was Survivor Series: WarGames inside Petco Park in San Diego, California. It only had four matches, which included a couple of title matches and two WarGames matches.

Team Vision defeated Team Punk in the main event after a hooded masked individual attacked CM Punk, allowing Bron Breakker to hit the Spear and pin the reigning World Heavyweight Champion.

The babyfaces won the Women's WarGames Match, while Dominik Mysterio beat John Cena to regain the Intercontinental Title. Stephanie Vaquer successfully defended her Women's World Championship against Nikki Bella.

It was deemed a success based on the attendance of 46,016, plus the number of mentions, reactions, and views on social media.
