WWE planning Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns championship match - Reports

Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes are among the most popular performers on the WWE roster. The two RAW stars have teamed up twice since their WrestleMania XL clash.

According to Dave Meltzer, WWE fans could get to watch Reigns and Rhodes wrestle against each other in a championship match. In the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the popular journalist reported that the highly anticipated clash is in the Stamford-based promotion's plans going forward. However, he added that the bout might not necessarily take place at The Showcase of the Immortals.

"It's been confirmed to us that a [Cody] Rhodes vs. [Roman] Reigns match for the WWE title is in the plans, although not necessarily at WrestleMania," Meltzer wrote. [H/T: f4wonline]

Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns teamed up and joined forces with The Usos and CM Punk for the Men's WarGames match. Unfortunately, the babyfaces lost the contest after a mysterious attacker entered the steel structure and took out The Second City Saint. Interestingly, The OTC and The American Nightmare dropped multiple teases of a potential title match in the future throughout the build and at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames itself.

Roman Reigns' former Wiseman made a massive claim about The OTC

Paul Heyman betrayed Roman Reigns and CM Punk at WrestleMania 41 to join forces with Seth Rollins and form The Vision. The former Wiseman has since taken frequent digs at The OTC during shows and interviews.

During a recent appearance on ESPN's First Take, Paul Heyman was asked to share the reason behind Reigns hating on him. Staying true to his on-screen heel persona, The Oracle claimed that the former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion was jealous and envious of him.

"It's just a matter of jealousy. When you walk around life as the GOAT, when you walk around life as the one man on the planet that Stephen A. [Smith] wishes he could be, even The Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns, will be jealous and envious of you," Heyman said.

The OTC did not show up on the Monday Night RAW following the WWE Survivor Series: WarGames. It will be intriguing to see what's next for the 40-year-old Samoan.
