John Cena's farewell tour ends on December 13 at Saturday Night's Main Event. Cena will face Gunther in his retirement match, though there have been contradicting reports about it. The consensus among the WWE Universe is Cena vs. Gunther will be the main event of SNME. However, there was a report from Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer that The GOAT's final match will open the show. WrestleVotes Radio countered the claim via Fightful Select by saying that WWE is still mulling if John Cena's retirement match is going to be the main event or not. WWE Insider Andrew Baydala agreed with WrestleVotes Radio's report, stating on his official X account that Cena vs. Gunther will not be the opening match of SNME. I've seen the "reports" and I understand they are given what they are given but... I can tell you that as of today, and things change rapidly. John Cena's last match will NOT open #SNME," Baydala tweeted. Cena not main eventing his final show would send fans into a frenzy. He deserves to get a proper final farewell for all the things he has contributed to the industry. Gunther sends message to John Cena ahead of SNMEWhile some fans are not happy that Gunther will face John Cena in his final match, The Ring General had a strong message for The GOAT. Gunther expects himself to not just win the match but also make Cena tap out for the first time in more than 20 years. "The last chapter will be written on Saturday. The question: is this going to be a happy end or is it going to be a heartbreak? I’m going to do everything in my power that it’s going to be a heartbreak... I’m looking for him to give up, to admit he can’t go no more. It’s what I’m going to go for, and I think that’s where the drama is as well in that match," Gunther said on The Rich Eisen Show.
