Reason behind top WWE name's absence following a new deal - Reports

WWE is a few weeks away from Saturday Night's Main Event, and the roster has to wait until the beginning of next year for Royal Rumble. Meanwhile, there's an update on a top star's absence.

Last month, it was reported that Santos Escobar signed a new deal with the Stamford-based promotion and has returned to the company. Later, it was noted that Escobar's new deal had a significant bump, and he would soon appear on the red brand.

Unfortunately, it didn't happen, and the 41-year-old star has not appeared on the weekly product following his new deal. According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer Radio, the management signed Escobar to a very big contract, and they would not bring him back to television without a real plan for him.

The company has invested heavily in the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion, and the management intends to push him, which is why he hasn't appeared on the weekly product. It'll be interesting to see what's next for Santos Escobar in the promotion.

What's next for Santos Escobar in WWE?

Santos Escobar was booked well under Triple H's creative regime as he moved to the main roster alongside Legado Del Fantasma and spent almost all of his time on the blue brand. However, the 41-year-old star had some highlights on WWE's main roster, but it led nowhere, as he was back to square one when he created a new version of the Legado Del Fantasma.

Earlier this year, he was further sidelined from shows and segments as Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo won the AAA World Tag Team Championship. After Escobar was gone from the company, he signed a new deal and returned to the Stamford-based promotion.

While no reports indicate what's next for the former Cruiserweight Champion, one can expect a big push, which might be in the singles division. Moreover, Escobar can create a new stable and also work with AAA, similar to The Judgment Day's Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano.
