WWE has lured some of the biggest names away from AEW in recent years. If recent reports are to be believed, then another veteran could be on his way back to the Stamford-based promotion.Chris Jericho's future with All Elite Wrestling has been up in the air amid rumors that his contract is set to expire at the end of this year.As of this writing, there's no word on whether he has signed a contract extension, but Tony Khan has been vocal about wanting to see the Canadian wrestler end his in-ring career in AEW.Jericho hasn't been seen on TV since walking out on The Learning Tree on the April 9, 2025, edition of Dynamite. He last wrestled at Wrestle Dynasty, where he lost his ROH World Championship to Bandido.In the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that all signs point toward Chris Jericho returning to his old stomping grounds.The wrestling journalist noted that World Wrestling Entertainment has even offered The Demo God a retirement storyline. While nothing is set in stone yet, he is expected to be back in early 2026.“This one is a Jericho decision and all hints are in the WWE direction. I know that WWE has offered him a retirement storyline and those in WWE have said that’s what they’d be interested in. Others expect him to be there early next year but nothing is confirmed.” Chris Jericho is not ruling out a potential WWE returnIn an interview with The Daily Mail a few months ago, Chris Jericho made it clear that he was not leaving AEW for now."The best thing that can happen in wrestling is AEW, and the fact that there’s two huge promotions that you can choose from just makes it better for the guys, it makes it better for the fans, and everybody in between, so I’m not going anywhere for a while."However, the AEW Original didn't completely rule out returning to the sports entertainment juggernaut."I’m still with AEW for now.
