SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis has been at odds with a former WWE Champion over the past few months. Tonight, he could ensure that the star remains banned from the arena during the episode.

Drew McIntyre was attacked by Cody Rhodes in his car when he drove into the backstage area last week. He also had a confrontation with Aldis, where the General Manager reminded McIntyre that he was still suspended. Tonight, Aldis could ensure that the Scottish Warrior is not even allowed to enter the arena, unlike last week.

With Cody Rhodes set to face Oba Femi at Saturday Night's Main Event this weekend, it makes sense for WWE to keep McIntyre off television as Rhodes focuses on his showdown with the NXT Champion. Therefore, they could factor it into the storyline and have Aldis ban him from the arena altogether.

In all likelihood, Drew McIntyre will return to television once Rhodes is done with his exhibition match this weekend. However, it remains to be seen how Nick Aldis allows him to return to programming.

Former WWE Champion could challenge Cody Rhodes after Saturday Night's Main Event

The American Nightmare will likely learn about his new challenger very soon. After retaining his title against Drew McIntyre two consecutive times, Rhodes is set to have another match with the Scottish Warrior in the coming months, according to a report from Bodyslam+.

The report also states that the storyline will have major implications for the future of both superstars. However, whether or not a title change will happen has not been revealed yet.

Fans have been vocal about their desire to see Drew McIntyre finally win the WWE Title after an intense feud with Cody Rhodes. Another defeat against The American Nightmare could damage his reputation beyond repair after already losing twice.
