WWE has subtly revealed Chris Jericho is returning, according to veteran

One of the biggest rumors over the past few months is the impending return of Chris Jericho to WWE. A wrestling veteran believes that Jericho's comeback is imminent after the company name-dropped him at a recent event. The name in question is Dutch Mantell.

John Cena faced AJ Styles at Crown Jewel: Perth last month for the final time. They paid tributes to other stars who were instrumental in their respective careers. Cena honored Jericho by putting Styles in the Walls of Jericho, which was acknowledged by Michael Cole and Wade Barrett on commentary.

On a recent episode of Story Time with Dutch Mantell, the former WWE manager thought that Cole mentioning Chris Jericho was a clear sign of Y2J's return.

"I would think just by [Michael Cole] saying the name Chris Jericho, he's not long off from coming back into the company. Now, if Vince [McMahon] would still hold a grudge against him for leaving, which that has been known to happen, I don't think Michael Cole would have said his name. And I don't think Michael Cole would have said his name unless he was given a free access to say his name or he may have even been told to mention his name. Doing that, because it's a prelude to him coming in, which starts talk like we're talking right now, and now the people since his name comes up now," Mantell said.

Jericho left WWE in 2018, appearing in NJPW in 2017 and then signing with AEW in 2019. He did make a cameo in an episode of RAW in 2022, as part of a video package for John Cena's 20th anniversary.

Chris Jericho reunites with current WWE star

To further fuel rumors of his WWE return, Chris Jericho surprised fans when he attended an NHL game with Kevin Owens. The former "best friends" reunited during the game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Dallas Stars, which Jericho posted on Instagram.

Jericho and Owens were storyline best friends that captivated WWE in 2017. It could have culminated in a potential WrestleMania main event, but Vince McMahon opted for something different. That decision was one of the reasons why Jericho left the company in 2018.
