WWE officially ranks Randy Orton as No.1 Suspect as mysterious masked man to have attacked CM Punk

Randy Orton has been named as the top suspect for being the attacker on CM Punk at Survivor Series by WWE. The company released an official list of suspects on its website.

At WWE Survivor Series: WarGames, CM Punk and his team appeared on the verge of winning things when a masked man appeared in the cage. He then went on to attack Punk after a brief staredown, before hitting him with Seth Rollins' move, The Stomp, before running out of the cage again. Since then, there has been speculation as to the identity of the star.

Paul Heyman has denied any involvement with the star, and while reports have claimed it could be a returning Austin Theory, WWE has yet to confirm anything. However, in an article on WWE's official site, they ranked the suspects from most likely to least likely.

At the top of the rankings on the article was Randy Orton himself. He was said not to have much love for Punk, and with him out of the company for a while, the attack was thought to make sense from this perspective.

"It’s been a while, but Orton historically has no love lost for Punk. It makes a ton of sense that the masked man is The Viper. Orton and Punk have had issues and some classic matches, including WrestleMania 27. Who can forget Orton’s return in November of 2023 being somewhat overshadowed by Punk’s return to the company for the first time in a decade, which couldn’t have gone over well with Orton? Orton has been off TV for a while, which has put him out of mind, out of sight, which is perfect for a surprising return. Before disappearing, Orton was flirting with turning to the dark side, so it all makes sense."

While Randy Orton was ranked at No. 1, he was not the only one on the WWE list.

For the moment, the identity of the man remains unknown, but in the coming weeks, more is expected to come out about who it could be and if it actually is Randy Orton.
