Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently spoke about Sting joining the company during the height of the Attitude Era. The legendary wrestler made his name in WCW and TNA Wrestling.

For several years after Vince McMahon bought out WCW, fans wondered if they would ever see Sting in the company. Several WCW stars, including Booker T, Diamond Dallas Page, Scott Steiner, Goldberg, the nWo members Hollywood Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and even Eric Bischoff, appeared in WWE. The Icon finally arrived in the company in 2014. This led to a huge matchup against Triple H at WrestleMania 31. However, fans believe they missed out on seeing The Undertaker square off against Sting at The Show of Shows.

During a recent episode of Wrestling with Russo, the veteran writer noted that Sting could have had some major dream matches in the WWE. He pointed out that fans always talk about the match against The Undertaker. However, Russo felt that the Stinger could have also put on stellar matches against Mick Foley in his Mankind gimmick. He felt these storylines would have been huge back in the Attitude Era.

"My God, when you talk about Sting, of course, everybody talks about Taker. Can you think about Sting and Mick Foley? As Mankind, him in that role? Oh my God, there would have been so many freaking things to do. That would have been tremendous," Russo said.

Sting went on to have a stellar career and became a WWE Hall of Famer. The legendary wrestler finally ended his career on his own terms in AEW. His final match was at AEW Revolution in March 2024, where he teamed up with Darby Allin to defeat The Young Bucks.
