WWE Legend The Great Khali Is Coming Out Of Retirement; He Sends A Message

WWE legend, The Great Khali, is on his way to the wrestling ring once again after eight long years. The 7 ft 1 in giant last competed in WWE at the Greatest Royal Rumble match in Saudi Arabia in 2018. Since then, he hasn't participated in any wrestling match. The former World Heavyweight Champion is now scripting his comeback in 2026.

However, his match won't be in WWE, but it would be in his own wrestling company, Continental Wrestling Entertainment (CWE), which he formed in 2014, in Jalandhar, Punjab. Khali will compete on January 25, 2026, at Maithan Mania against Parker Boudreaux.

Khali's contract with the Stamford-based promotion expired in 2014, and he left the company. Soon, he formed his own wrestling company that trains the next generation of Indian wrestlers.

Khali sent a message to WWE superstar John Cena on his Instagram account, where he uploaded their old backstage segment, in which Khali, in Hindi, asks Cena to choose him as his opponent at SummerSlam. Surprisingly, Cena also shoots back in Hindi, saying that he'll think about it. This hilarious segment is shared by the 53-year-old legend on his Instagram account, with a promotional poster of his company in the reel.

John Cena and The Great Khali had a memorable rivalry back in 2007 when the Punjabi Giant made his debut in the company. Cena, who was the WWE Champion then, defeated Khali in two back-to-back matches at two PLE events for the title. However, there was one match at Saturday Night's Main Event on May 28, 2007, in which Khali squashed Cena but this was a non-title match.

The two didn't feature in any storyline after 2007, and Khali went on to work with superstars like The Undertaker, Batista, and Kane. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021.

John Cena will wrestle Gunther in his retirement match at WWE SNME this month

John Cena will wrestle in the last wrestling match of his career on December 13, 2025, at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The match will be against former World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther, who won after winning the Last Time is Now tournament. In the finals of the tournament on the December 5 episode of SmackDown, Gunther defeated LA Knight.

The 17-time Champion had earlier said that this would be his last gig inside the squared circle, and no matter what happens, he won't ever step inside the wrestling ring again. It will be interesting to see how the company books the final match of one of their biggest icons.
