The Rock has faced several Hall of Famers over the course of his illustrious career. In 1999, he battled Mick Foley for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble in a brutal "I Quit" Match.

The ending of the match is widely considered one of the most brutal sequences in pro wrestling history. The Rock hit Foley with as many as 11 unprotected chair shots to the head, with his hands cuffed behind his back. A pre-recorded audio of Foley saying "I Quit" was played through the PA system, which resulted in The Rock winning.

In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, Mick Foley recalled his infamous brawl with The Rock and also revealed the originally planned ending to their match:

John Cena's last match opening SNME - Check out Why!

"I literally could not believe how much that first chair shot hurt, more than any one I'd ever taken. And so instead of being halfway up the aisle on five, I was still in the ring. And so I wanted to do the best job I could. But even as I was getting there, I did not know my children were crying. The original finish, which was supposed to be the camera sees my family crying, I see my family crying, and I quit. I don't want to do that." [H/T: Chris Van Vliet]

WWE Hall of Famer reveals what happened after his 2004 match with Randy Orton

In the same interview with Chris Van Vliet, Mick Foley was asked about his favorite match from his career. The Hall of Famer claimed his Hardcore Match at WWE Backlash 2004 with Randy Orton was his all-time favorite.

He also revealed the struggles he had to endure after the grueling brawl in Edmonton:

"I had many trials and tribulations getting back home. My luggage was delayed for four hours. I did throw up in the parking lot of Tim Hortons in Edmonton, because my brain had jogged a little bit, but I made it back in time for RAW the next night, and it was like the fans looked at him like he was a completely different guy. And it really made me feel good."

Randy Orton's match with Mick Foley is widely considered the Hall of Famer's best match of all time. It was also a career-changing night for The Viper, with fan perception of him changing dramatically just 24 hours later on WWE RAW.
