John Cena is going to retire at Saturday Night's Main Event. However, it seems that WWE has made a few changes to how the show will be run by taking away a huge rule.
John Cena's retirement is going to be different than what happened with Goldberg's retirement in WWE
On tonight's episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez reported on the situation surrounding John Cena's last-ever match before he retires. The star is set to compete at Saturday Night's Main Event for the big show, where he will finally be ending his career. The report stated that the show had no runtime, meaning there was no definite point at which it needed to end. They are not going to cut off the show as they did with Goldberg's retirement, when his speech was cut off at the end.
Thus, unlike that show, where they had a big rule about going off the air, that rule will not be featured this time.
John Cena's last match opening SNME - Check out Why!
"Right now, the Saturday Night's Main Event show, has no runtime. It has a start time, but it has no end time. So basically, the show can pretty much go however long they want. This is not going to be like when they were on NBC and Goldberg's match and wathever happened there. And they had to get him in and out and he was upset about it or whatever. They can basically go as long as they need to go. Probaly will end up going like two and a half hours."
He went on to state that the show was set to be opened by John Cena and Gunther, with the two stars set to have as much time as Cena wanted to complete whatever he wanted to do on the show. He said the match might take an hour or more, with whatever they decided to do once the bout was over. He added that after this, when the show ended, there would be no constraints on the time it took.
"It will probably take up the entire first hour of the Peacock show, at which point, they'll do the other three matches. And when the show ends, the show ends."
