WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW commentator Jim Ross has become a controversial name recently. During an interview with Maven on D-Von Dudley's YouTube channel, the pair not so subtly discussed a former WWE executive who allegedly made racist remarks toward them. Now, the multi-time tag team champion has named Ross specifically as that executive.
Jim Ross worked with WWE for well over twenty years in two separate stints as a play-by-play commentator, as well as an occasional interviewer for the brand. Ross's voice became synonymous with some of the greatest moments and Superstars the promotion had ever seen. He wasn't one to beat around the bush, often times calling out someone's actions at the risk of his own career or personal health.
JR's been a staple in professional wrestling for millennials and onward. So when D-Von Dudley and Maven hinted that a "ten-gallon hat" wearing executive admitted he didn't like them for the color of their skin, some fans began guessing John Laurinaitis, Michael Hayes, and others. Speaking with Duke LovesWrasslin, Dudley confirmed it was indeed Jim Ross on the latest episode of "Devon & The Duke."

"Did I come out and say ten-gallon hat? Yes. Did Maven let the cat out of the bag? Yes. Was it JR? Yes. I did have a problem with JR back then. I didn't know why," said D-Von [7:45-7:58].
D-Von Dudley did bring up Vince McMahon, Michael Hayes, John Laurinaitis, and Pat Patterson, stating that none of them ever made him feel uncomfortable and, in fact, helped him become a bigger and better star.
D-Von also said, despite two separate incidents, he's still praying for good health for Ross.
D-Von Dudley and Maven's original comments regarding a WWE official making racially offensive remarks
Two weeks ago, The Dudley Boyz dropped a special interview that took place with Maven on D-Von's YouTube channel. They spoke on their careers, working in ECW vs WWE, how they got over, and more. Of course, the biggest takeaway from the video came near the beginning, when D-Von and Maven mentioned a certain WWE official who made racially insensitive and offensive remarks backstage.
D-Von went so far as to say that this person disliked him because of the color of his skin. Bully Ray encouraged him to name him. They did everything but that.
"I experienced it in WWE, you know? I experienced it with certain top officials who, I don't really wanna go into it and say names. Well, you know, I didn't wear a ten-gallon hat or anything." -D-Von Dudley [5:28-5:47]
Maven would follow with a "Go Sooners!" With clues like that, it's somewhat baffling that anyone would assume they were talking about anyone else. At the moment, Ross has not commented on the allegations.
