Samantha made a name for herself as a ring announcer in WWE. However, the two parties parted ways last year, much to the dismay of fans. On a recent post on social media, Irvin mentioned that she had completed one year away from the business and had another year remaining in her non-compete clause.

The post led to fans and industry experts questioning the duration of the non-compete issued by WWE in her case.

On a recent episode of Sportskeeda's Writing with Russo, the wrestling veteran explained that the non-compete duration depended on the release clause. He felt that if a star asked to be let go, WWE might think they were jumping ship and joining the competition. This could lead to a longer non-compete.

Russo added that since her fiancé at the time, Ricochet, had joined AEW, WWE officials thought that Samantha Irvin was also AEW-bound.

"If you ask for your release, it's a totally different story. At that point, if you're asking for your release, they're thinking you're going somewhere else. I kinda get it in that case. I'm not sure, bro. I almost think she asked for her release because Ricochet went to AEW. Now, if she asked for her release and they granted her release, but said you're gonna have a two-year non-compete. That's a different story than them releasing somebody and telling them it's a non-compete. I'm really not sure what her situation is," Russo said.
