WWE Champion Stunned After John Cena Announcement; Title Defense Officially Set

WWE Superstar John Cena recently announced the participants for the Iron Survivor Challenge to be held at NXT Deadline. Interestingly, a titleholder in the developmental brand thought that since Cena didn’t announce his match for the event, he could take the day off. However, General Manager Ava has now forced Ethan Page to defend the NXT North American Championship on December 7, 2025.

All Ego and Ava were seen in a parking lot segment where the GM caught him leaving the arena in his car. The AAA Champion said that he is going because he isn’t needed for the night, and also said that he thanks John Cena for giving “lesser talented” stars a match at Deadline instead of him.

However, the WWE NXT General Manager said he won’t be getting a day off, as he hasn’t defended the NXT North American Championship since Halloween Havoc. When Page said that nobody wants to face him, Mr. Iguana showed up and spooked the dual champ.

All Ego said that Ava set him up, while Mr. Iguana stole Page’s car and drove away. The exasperated wrestler asked the GM if she would call the cops, and Ava declined, joking.

While Ethan Page has now had his car stolen, he will have to work hard to ensure that he doesn’t get his title stolen by the AAA star and La Yesca on Deadline as well.

Ethan Page talks about the pressure he faces in WWE NXT

Ethan Page recently appeared in an interview with Good Karma Wrestling. He noted that while he is moving up the ladder in WWE and accomplishing a lot, he is also feeling that more weight is being added to his shoulders.

He said that things were easier when he wasn’t at the top because now he has to meet everyone’s expectations and always do something magnificent. He also said that his life has become tough because of it. At the same time, he also gloated and said that nobody is better than him in WWE right now.

Page is inarguably one of the biggest draws on the NXT brand. The 36-year-old became the NXT Champion almost immediately after arriving in WWE from AEW. It would be interesting to see what lies ahead for the dual champ and whether he can defeat Mr. Iguana.
