Survivor Series WarGames takes place this weekend, and Bret Hart's infamous match with Shawn Michaels at the 1997 edition of the premium live event remains a debate among wrestling fans. The 'Montreal Screwjob' has resulted in a ton of fan theories over the years, and Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling's Scott D'Amore has an interesting take. In the latest edition of his weekly column, Uncrowned, D'Amore claimed that WWE breached its contract with Bret Hart by taking away the creative control they had promised to him. He also revealed how the company had been unable to fulfill its financial promises to him and that his loyalty to WWE was not repaid: "My view, which hasn’t changed in three decades, is that WWE breached its contract with Bret. They had agreed to give creative control over to how his character was presented — and, on top of that, they’d already broken the reported $20 million over 20 years deal they’d signed, by telling him they couldn’t afford it and he should go see if he could resurrect talks with WCW. Remember, Bret was offered a lot more money to go to WCW in 1996, but took a lesser deal to stay with WWE. His loyalty wasn’t repaid in kind."He added: "People can take shots at Bret for taking himself seriously, but he’d been granted creative control yet still said he’d drop the title before leaving for WCW. He just wouldn’t drop it in Montreal to Shawn Michaels, a man who, after Bret put him over at WrestleMania XII, shook Bret’s hand and said: 'I’ll never do the same for you.'" [H/T Uncrowned]WWE veteran says Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon's alleged backstage relationship was "well-known"In a recent episode of Story Time with Dutch Mantel, the erstwhile Zeb Colter addressed Bret Hart's claims that Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon were "lovers" back in the day. While he did not confirm whether the rumors were true, he revealed that it was a well-known rumor:"It's like you get in wrestling, you know, eat your cereal and say your prayers, and Vince and Shawn, like, sleeping together. It was like the ABCs of wrestling. But is it true? I don't know if it's true or not."Neither party has addressed the rumors since Bret Hart made the bold claims a few days ago.
