Teddy Long makes a surprising comparison between Dominik Mysterio and former WWE authority figure (Exclusive)

Teddy Long made a surprising comparison in his praise of Dominik Mysterio. He explained why he was very similar to Vickie Guerrero, with whom he has ties through Eddie Guerrero.

So, how exactly does "Dirty" Dom compare with Vickie Guerrero? If you're a younger WWE fan, you may not know this, but in the late 2000s and early 2010s, Vickie Guerrero was a significant authority figure. Due to her shrill voice, she was hated by WWE fans, who often booed her while she was speaking.

On the final episode of The Wrestling Time Machine, WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long told host Mac Davis that Dominik Mysterio is a lot like Vickie Guerrero because of the heat they received (and receive), with fans not even allowing them to get a word in on the mic:

"We've watched him [Dominik Mysterio] when he was a little baby, when Rey [Mysterio] used to bring him to the shows. [It's been] that long. To see him progress into what he has become today is just phenomenal. How can you not give it to him? He has the kind of heat that Vickie Guerrero had. They would never let her talk. Every time she said something...Dominik is the same. He has done a tremendous job; there's no doubt."

Teddy Long disagreed with Dominik Mysterio about a statement he made

Dominik Mysterio claimed in an interview with Jim Varsallone that the current era of WWE surpasses the Attitude Era, citing storylines, merchandise, and in-ring wrestling as the reasons behind his statement. Dominik's statement caused quite a debate, as the Attitude Era is considered one of the big cultural boom periods in professional wrestling.

On a past episode of The Wrestling Time Machine, Teddy Long disagreed with the statement made by "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio:

"I love him to death. I have known him since he was a little bitty baby. No, no, you are wrong there Dominik. Come on playa," Teddy Long said.

Time will tell how this statement from Dominik Mysterio ages. It's possible that in a few years, the big boom period that WWE experienced will only have been in 2023 and 2024.

While 2025 has been another record-breaking year for WWE, it has been more on the financial side of things, which is not something WWE fans care about as much. WWE fans are normally interested in quality storylines and wrestling.

The consensus among WWE fans online seems to be that the storylines and premium live events in 2025 haven't been as good as the previous two years. To some, SummerSlam 2022 to WrestleMania 40 in 2024 was considered the honeymoon period of the Triple H era in WWE.
