A star is willing to return to WWE after more than 2000 days. In recent years, fans have witnessed sensational returns, such as CM Punk and AJ Lee, after long hiatuses from the Stamford-based promotion.
Another former talent open to a comeback is David Otunga. Otunga was part of the popular Nexus stable in WWE and later served in non-wrestling roles in the promotion, including a stint on commentary.
While he has come up with a YouTube channel of his own and has a gig with the 4th Rope wrestling promotion, he isn't shutting the door down on a return to the sports entertainment giant. During an appearance on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, he was asked whether he wanted to return to the promotion.
“I mean, if they called, yeah, absolutely. Like I said, it was so much fun, although now I’m still doing announcing with 4th Rope, which has been awesome. And I’ll tell you what, it’s pretty cool, because of the training that I received at WWE, like, prepared me so much for doing that," he said.

During his time in the company, Otunga became a two-time Tag Team champion. After his role as an active performer, he transitioned to an on-screen legal advisor, drawing on his real-life legal background.
He wrestled his last match in 2015 and began his transition to the commentary table. He eventually joined SmackDown's commentary team in 2016. His last appearance as a commentator came on the August 20, 2019, episode of SmackDown, and he exited the promotion during the pandemic-related layoffs.
David Otunga believes John Cena buried the Nexus in WWE
During the conversation, David Otunga opened up about how the Nexus made an impact on its 2010 debut.
He talked about the hype around the faction every week until their big match at SummerSlam. However, the NXT rookies lost to a team of WWE stars led by John Cena, halting their momentum.
When asked whether John Cena buried the Nexus, Otunga said, "That’s 100% accurate," and added that it is what happened.
