Recently during an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, former two-time tag team champion David Otunga opened up on the possibility of returning to the ring.

The former Nexus member said he would like to come back as an on-screen manager who can get physical when needed. He then revealed he has a pitch that could work really well, but he is not sharing it publicly.

“I actually have a really, really dope pitch that would be awesome. But I can’t share it because somebody will steal my idea. WWE’s stolen so many of my ideas, you know, over the years, and they’re legally allowed to contractually because they would own my IP, anything I come up with.”

He then gave a little hint about what he was thinking, saying the idea is based on a faction and is unlike anything seen before in wrestling.

“I have an awesome idea that would work at any wrestling promotion. A really, really good storyline, and for a faction and I’ve never seen it in wrestling before. But I'm keeping that tight-lipped," he added.

David Otunga is open to a WWE return

David Otunga made his WWE debut with The Nexus in 2010. He continued to be an active wrestler till 2015 before transitioning to an on-screen legal advisor role and later taking up commentary.

He was on the announcer's desk till 2019, when he was let go due to pandemic-related cuts. In an appearance on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Otunga said he is open to a return to the promotion if they call him.

But he mentioned that right now he's happy doing announcing work with 4th Rope wrestling and said his time in the sports entertainment juggernaut prepared him well for the role.
