WWE icon John Cena has wrestled a total of seventeen matches in his Farewell Tour. The veteran will compete inside the squared circle one last time at Saturday Night's Main Event. Unfortunately, he did not get to lock horns against The Miz, one of his archrivals, during the retirement tour.
Speaking on his appearance on a recent episode of SI Media With Jimmy Traina, The A-Lister noted that it was a little upsetting considering he was the first star to express his desire to go up against The Cenation Leader. The former multi-time WWE Champion said that he could contemplate the reason, but he was not sure why the match did not take place.
"It’s a little upsetting. It’s one of those things where I remember when he first started this whole ‘The Time Is Now’ tour, where it was like, ‘Hey, I’m retiring in one year.' I was the first person, literally the first person, to put my name in the hat and say, ‘I want to go up against John Cena. I want to take on John Cena one last time, The Miz versus Cena.’ And it never came to fruition. I could sit there and say, ‘Ah, it’s this, it’s that, it’s the other thing.’ I don’t know what it is," The Miz said.
The Miz opined that one reason could be that the fans did not ask for it. He pointed out how an X (fka Twitter) interaction between AJ Styles and John Cena led to their match at WWE Crown Jewel. The Awesome One blamed his fans for not being vocal enough on the internet so he could try and get the match booked with a social media update.

"Could it be that the fans didn’t literally ask for it? Because when I saw AJ Styles tweet and then Cena tweet back, that’s how these matches start. That’s how this could have happened. All I had to do was tweet, and all I needed was for the fans to have my back and be vocal about truly wanting it. That’s all I needed. Well, I guess my fans don’t do that, so I blame them," The Miz added. [H/T: NoDQ]

The Miz claims he is not mad about not getting to wrestle John Cena during the farewell tour
Later in the conversation, The Miz stated that he could be mad about not getting the desired match against John Cena, but he knows better.
The 45-year-old pointed out that he has been in WWE for long enough to understand how things work. He added that his focus is completely on the thing he has control over, which is to try his best.
"I could be angry. I could sit there and say, ‘Oh, I’m so mad. I’m so angry.’ Or I can look at it and go, ‘Okay, alright.’ I’ve been in WWE long enough to know that things happen. Domino effects happen. If one thing changes and goes this way, another thing goes that way, and then this thing can’t happen. I’ve been here long enough to know that. So I don’t get mad. I get more or less focused on how I can make the best of the situation. What I can do to bring out the best and do my best, because that’s all I can control," The Miz added. [H/T: NoDQ]
While John Cena ends his wrestling career at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, it remains to be seen what the future holds for The Miz.
