December 13, 2025, will go down in history as one of the most heartbreakingly emotional nights for wrestling fans across the world, as everyone's beloved WWE Superstar John Cena has retired from in-ring competition.

The GOAT gave fans everything throughout his legendary career. Even in his final appearance on tonight's WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, he wanted to put over the up-and-coming wrestling stars. Although many wanted to see their childhood hero win in his final outing inside the ring, John Cena had other plans for his retirement.

On tonight's show, The Chain Gang Soldier selflessly put over Gunther in his final match. However, he did not go down without a fight. Throughout the bout, Cena gave fans a glimpse of his 'Super Cena' era. He hit The Ring General with multiple Attitude Adjustments, including one on the announcer's table and another from the top of the turnbuckle, but it was not enough to take down the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

In the final stages of the match, Gunther managed to put Cena in a sleeper hold. The Cenation Leader tried everything in his power to find his way out of the submission hold, but he ended up giving in. For the first time in more than 15 years, John tapped out. This was the end of a beautiful era, as fans will no longer get to see The Greatest of All Time, John Cena, inside the ring in WWE.

We at Sportskeeda congratulate John Cena on an incredible career and thank The GOAT for all the memories of Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect throughout the years.
