A couple of weeks ago, Fandango announced that he was going to be retiring and was bringing his career to an end once and for all. He said he was done wrestling and that he was thankful to WWE, TNA, and everyone in the crowd and at home for helping his career. He is set to retire in January next year.

Now, though, things have changed quite a bit. At the latest episode of TNA IMPACT, Fandango, aka JDC, was disrespected by Frankie Kazarian, the current TNA World Champion. He then got a shot at the world title if he could beat Eric Young.

That's exactly what he did, despite being attacked and Young trying to cheat. He is now the No.1 Contender for the TNA World Championship. After winning, he sent out a promise saying that he was going to retire as the world champion.

What did former WWE star Fandango say about retiring?

The former WWE star said he would be bringing an end to his career after TNA Genesis, which is set to take place in January 2026.

"I have decided that after Genesis in January, I'm going to be retiring from in-ring action. I didn't want to just throw that at you guys out here. But I wanted to do it here in Orlando, in this arena in Full Sail, because this place means the freaking world to me. I'm so grateful for the last 27 years I've spent in this business. I'm grateful for you guys. I'm grateful for the WWE. I'm grateful for TNA. I've spent a lot of time being ungrateful in this business, but right now, I'm telling you that I am very grateful for my last couple of years here in TNA. This is the best locker room I've been in. I truly mean that from the bottom of my heart."

Now, it remains to be seen what form this retirement takes and what's next for the star, given his promise to retire as the champion.
