John Cena is set to retire on December 13 at Saturday Night's Main Event in Washington, D.C. Ahead of Cena's final WWE appearance as an active in-ring performer, Lana shared how The GOAT changed her career forever.
Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on a recent episode of Insight, Lana discussed what it was like to work with Cena. She was managing Rusev when The Bulgarian Brute was feuding against Cena for the United States Championship in 2015.
Lana opened up about how Cena taught her how to listen to the audience and let everything sink in before making her next move. It was vital to her development, but there was also fantastic advice about taking risks in WWE.
"Working with John Cena, I'm forever thankful for. I learned so much and I think it really carried into my in-ring wrestling because I knew sound. So like John Cena is another person calling all the spots, right? I'll never forget when the ‘We want Lana’ thing started, and it started at live events. (…) John would always give us, always say, ‘You have to take calculated risk.’ And then he's like, ‘Then if it doesn't go as planned, you have to take ownership and say, ‘Sorry, that was my bad. Going to do something different next time,'" Lana said.

While Lana was unable to be part of Cena's farewell tour, Rusev participated in The Last Time Is Now Tournament. He reached the quarterfinals but lost to Jey Uso.
Rusev doesn't believe John Cena is retiring for good
While John Cena has been adamant that his in-ring career will be over once his farewell tour ends, Rusev doesn't believe Cena's final match is going to be on December 13 at Saturday Night's Main Event.
"I don't believe it. I'm not holding my breath. I love John and this may be his last match of this century or whatnot, but at some point I want to see him back, whenever that is," Rusev said on the SHAK Wrestling podcast. [H/T: Sports Illustrated]
Some legends did break their promise and wrestle after retirement, like Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Steve Austin, and Bret Hart. However, Cena has a budding career in Hollywood, and he might not lace up his boots again.
