John Cena is considered one of the biggest icons of WWE. He spearheaded the company as its biggest star for nearly a decade (2004-2014). He holds the exceptional record of winning the WWE Championship 17 times in his wrestling career. Cena will no doubt go down as one of the greatest in WWE.

However, according to Cena himself, there's one superstar in the roster who is the 'Best', and the one who will never have a replacement. It's the seven-time WWE Champion, Brock Lesnar. During a recent appearance on Chris Van Vliet's show, Insight, Cena called Brock Lesnar, not once in a generation but once-in-a-genre talent.

"The best. Sometimes we talk about once in a generational athlete. Brock is once-in-a-genre. There will be one Brock Lesnar in wrestling. And that's from carnival time to the time we shut the lights out. If we are lucky enough to get another, I don't know who it is. He is a once-in-a-genre performer," Cena said. [1: 19:00 onwards]

John Cena's last match opening SNME - Check out Why!

Brock Lesnar made a shocking return at this year's SummerSlam right after Cena's loss against Cody Rhodes. It was later revealed that John Cena himself wanted to work with The Beast in his retirement tour, and this was a reason the 10-time World Champion was brought back after two years.

The two went on to have a match at Wrestlepalooza in which Lesnar hammered Cena with multiple F5s to win the bout. And when asked about this loss, Cena said that the match was booked so as to make Brock Lesnar look strong once again, as he had come back after two years.

And this wasn't the only match in which Brock had squashed Cena. He has done that in the past, also. At their SummerSlam bout in 2014, Brock Lesnar had delivered multiple Suplexes on Cena to win the WWE Championship.

Overall, in their WWE career, John Cena and Brock Lesnar have fought in seven matches, out of which Lesnar has won 5 encounters, while Cena has managed the win in just two.

John Cena spoke up on Brock Lesnar's retirement in WWE

The Cenation Leader also spilt the beans on Brock Lesnar's retirement in WWE. Brock is 48 years old, and sooner or later, he will bring the curtains down on his wrestling career. According to John Cena, that could happen next year at SummerSlam 2026 in Minnesota.

"This attraction, where we are going to build until he goes into the sunset, which is, I think, in Minnesota? Creatively, it’s very soon. To create a mountain to climb for someone, you have to build the mountain," Cena said.

Brock Lesnar recently competed at Survivor Series: WarGames as part of The Vision. This was also the first time since 2004 that The Beast competed as a team player. Lesnar has always appeared as a singles superstar in WWE.

His next opponent isn't locked, and most probably, he'll now return at the Royal Rumble PLE on January 31, in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. It will be interesting to see how the creative team plans out the retirement match of The Beast.
