John Cena makes heartbreaking admission ahead of WWE retirement - "I don't want to be in the ground"

The 17-time World Champion John Cena’s last match is just a couple of days away, and the wrestling industry is all set to witness one of the most emotional moments in history. Ahead of his retirement, the Franchise Player sat in an interview with Chris Van Vliet for an edition of INSIGHT, and made some interesting comments, making headlines around the world.

Cena, in the interview, addressed him winning the World title for the record 17th time, and how he would feel if someone broke his record and became an 18-time World Champion. The Franchise Player stated that he would love to shake hands with the star who becomes the 18-time champion, and that he doesn’t want to be on the ground when that happens.

"I want to win 17 so I can shake the hand of the performer that wins 18. So what it meant to me personally was like, hey youngans, it's one of them is going to be you or you better get working because I don't want to be in the ground when 18 happens. I want to shake somebody's hand and something that's impossible is now possible," he stated [38.14 onwards]

Will John Cena vs Gunther main event WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event?

The Franchise Player’s final match is now confirmed. Gunther managed to win the Last Time Is Now tournament, and has claimed that he would make Cena submit at Saturday Night’s Main Event this weekend.

While who would end up with the victory on John Cena’s last match is still a question, fans have been confused if the match would main event the show, after Cena joked about kicking off SNME. However, it is seemingly confirmed that Gunther vs Cena will main event this weekend’s edition of SNME. Time will now tell what WWE has in store for the stars next.
