John Cena isolates Dominik Mysterio for serious praise: "I learned how to fail"

John Cena is the latest WWE Superstar to give Dominik Mysterio some serious praise. "Dirty" Dom might be the most hated heel in the business today, but his peers have a lot of great things to say about him.

The penultimate opponent of Cena's in-ring career was Dominik at Survivor Series: WarGames. The GOAT put over the Judgment Day member, who won the Intercontinental Championship for the second time in his career. The bad guy had a ton of help, including from a returning Liv Morgan.

Speaking on the Joe Rogan Experience, John Cena discussed a bunch of topics about his WWE career. Cena pointed out the importance of live events back in his heyday as a platform for superstars to experiment.

But since the company got rid of a lot of house shows from the schedule, not a lot of stars are trying new things. Cena mentioned Dominik Mysterio as one of the only people left who is not afraid to try things on television.

"I learned how to fail in those non-televised events. I could take big swings… I don't know how many people go out there, and just like Dom. Like that was an example of swinging big. 'I'm going to fake ring the bell, right? Will people even get that? Who cares? Let's try it.' He's the only one of those guys who will, or very few of those guys will stand on an idea like that. The other guys are like, ‘No I want to have a good choreographed performance because I want my stuff to look good because it's on television,'" Cena said.

Cena was talking about the ring bell spot at Saturday Night's Main Event on November 1 in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was a triple threat match between Dominik, Penta and Rusev. "Dirty" Dom used the spot to outsmart both of his opponents to retain his Intercontinental Championship.


Dominik Mysterio calls him The GOAT after beating John Cena

On the Survivor Series Post-Show, Dominik Mysterio celebrated his win over John Cena with Liv Morgan. Dominik garnered more heat after calling himself The GOAT because he beat the man who considered himself the greatest ever.

"John Cena has beaten absolutely everybody, am I correct? You name them, Cena’s beaten them. Now, I’ve beaten John Cena. By logic, I've also beaten everybody. Greatest of all time? You’re looking at him," Mysterio said.

While Dominik is free to claim any nickname he wants, he does have a shot at that GOAT title if continues to improve on all facets of pro wrestling.
