John Cena will hang up his boots after one last match at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13. The Triple H-led creative team is holding The Last Time Is Now Tournament to determine Cena's final opponent. Gunther and LA Knight have reached the finals of this tournament and will face each other on the upcoming edition of Friday Night SmackDown.

The 17-time World Champion recently sat with The Ringer's Bill Simmons for an interview ahead of his retirement. During the conversation, the host mentioned that it would be fitting for Cena to defeat somebody with "LA" in their name, hinting at LA Knight, in Boston.

John Cena says he wants to wrestle in WWE forever

During the same interview with Bill Simmons on The Ringer, John Cena said that he wanted to continue competing in WWE forever, but he believes he needs to hang up his boots as he has become a "step slower" and his "body hurts."

"I know I want to do it forever. I can speak from my perspective. This is something I've heard a lot this past year, 'Man, you're going out on your own terms.' That's bullsh*t. I want to do it forever. When you've been there live, like, to anyone out there who doesn't understand what WWE is, just go live. When you step in that building live, it's just a different energy. I never want to let that guy, but my body hurts, I'm a step slower. I promised myself and the fan base, like when I started before I won that first championship, when I'm a step slower, I'm out," said John Cena.
