John Cena is set to draw the curtains on his in-ring career on December 13 at Saturday Night's Main Event. The Never Seen 17 will face the winner of the Last Time is Now Tournament, Gunther, in his final rin-ring performance as a WWE Superstar. Ahead of his retirement match, Cena was asked whether he would ever come back, owing to the unpredictable nature of pro wrestling retirements. While several stars such as Shawn Michaels, Edge, and Trish Stratus have come out of retirement for more matches, Cena has doubled down on this run being his last-ever. In a recent interaction with Sony Sports Network, Cena explained why he would not have any more matches despite admitting that he could possibly have more: "Yeah, I could probably squeeze out more matches, but at what cost? I do harm to myself, I do harm to the product, and you as a fan… you leave feeling bad or sad." [H/T Sony Sports Network]It remains to be seen whether Cena will emerge victorious in his final match or whether Gunther will be able to defeat yet another legend in his retirement match at Saturday Night's Main Event. John Cena reveals his original plans of doing 200 dates on his retirement tourIn a recent interview with Tom Rinaldi, John Cena revealed he had originally planned up to 200 dates on his retirement tour with WWE. The legend also revealed that he had to shorten it to 36 dates due to the promotion's plans: "I wanted to do 200 dates just to say goodbye to everybody. I wanted to try to go everywhere I've been to just say thank you, and WWE came back and said, 'We can only do 36.' And that's when I was like, 'I think I can balance this with some other stuff, are you guys okay with me running in two lanes?' And they said, 'We sure are, we would just want you for this block of time.' So, it worked out great."John Cena also revealed that he had detailed plans, complete with a pitch deck for his retirement tour, but the company already had different ideas.
