A popular current WWE champion recently took shots at John Cena ahead of the latter's retirement. He also took jabs at Cody Rhodes and CM Punk. The name in question is Ethan Page.

Ethan Page is currently a double champion. He holds the NXT North American Championship and the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship alongside Chelsea Green.

At NXT Deadline, All Ego defeated Mr. Iguana to retain the North American Title. After his successful win, Page cut a backstage promo in which he said he found it "fitting" that John Cena decided to retire this year when he was on fire as a double champion in WWE.

Ethan added that he believed he was defending the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship more than the current world champions in the Stamford-based promotion, taking shots at Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk.

"You know it's crazy. They got John's music playing. I find it fitting [that] he chooses to retire the year I start cooking. I am the best professional wrestler in the world. Not just WWE, not just AAA, I've done TNA, I've done Evolve, I've done it all. I've held this title longer. I've defended it more. And now I'm defending two titles, hell, I'm defending my Mixed Tag Title more times than world champions in this company. Everyone here can kiss the best a** in the biz, mine," he said.

John Cena will retire after WWE Saturday Night's Main Event

John Cena is set to face his final opponent at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13. The Triple H-led creative team held The Last Time Is Now Tournament to decide Cena's last challenger.

On last week's edition of SmackDown, Gunther and LA Knight battled it out in the finals of this tournament. Although The Megastar put on an incredible performance inside the ring, it was not enough to beat The Ring General.

The former Imperium leader will now face John Cena at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13. It will be interesting to see what the Triple H-led creative team has planned for Cena's last match.
