John Cena's final WWE match at Saturday Night's Main Event was universally panned, as no one wanted to see their childhood hero go out in such a fashion. Recently, The Franchise Player reacted to a popular theory behind his loss, and Bubba Ray Dudley sent a message.

John Cena smiled before tapping out to Gunther, which broke the hearts of several fans, and many questioned the logic behind the booking. Later, WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley explained how the ending matched with Obi-Wan Kenobi's death scene from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.

While fans still argued over Dudley's theory on X/Twitter, the 17-time WWE World Champion acknowledged the popular Star Wars theory on Instagram. Later, the multi-time Tag Team Champion reposted his theory from X with John Cena's Instagram post and sent a message to The Franchise Player.

Is John Cena done with WWE following Saturday Night's Main Event?

Wrestlers are usually done with a promotion following their final or retirement match in the industry. Legends like Ric Flair, Mick Foley, Hulk Hogan, and many more have stepped out of retirement or joined a different promotion for an extended run as in-ring performers.

However, John Cena vowed to remain retired from in-ring competition leading up to December 2025, and The Franchise Player has no intention to break his promise and return to the ring. Luckily, it doesn't mean he's done with the Stamford-based promotion.

The Franchise Player has signed a new deal with the company and will make appearances backstage and outside the promotion based on the company's needs. Moreover, he did mention that he's going to be an ambassador for the company when he retires.

The Men's Grand Slam Champion left no loose ends on his way out and made Gunther the most hated man in professional wrestling at Saturday Night's Main Event. It'll be interesting to see when he returns to WWE in an on-screen manner.
