Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently spoke about the company's decision to host WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia. Chief Content Officer Triple H made the huge announcement earlier this year.
WWE announced that WrestleMania 43 will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This will be the first time that The Show of Shows will be held outside North America. During the announcement, Triple H praised the country's commitment to expanding its global outreach and sports initiatives.
This week on Writing with Russo, the writer detailed that the average WWE fan did not know where Saudi Arabia is. He believed it would be a huge problem for fans to travel halfway around the world to a different country and watch WrestleMania. He also pointed out that security could be a concern.
Vince Russo mentioned that fans might question their safety while watching the event in the country. He thought these would be the major reasons that could discourage US fans from traveling to Saudi Arabia for WrestleMania in 2027.

"They have no idea where Saudi Arabia is. So when you tell them Saudi Arabia, they think it's halfway across the world. They've got no idea where it is." He continued, "So the fact of the matter is that this is halfway across the world. There's gonna be stereotypes with those types of people, with these types of fans who are not educated, and then the money. The money is like third, bro. First, you don't even know where it is, you don't even think about going in. Second of all, am I going to be in danger? Is it safe? I think that's the one that gonna turn the most people away because that's the unknown."
WWE is currently in the eighth year of its ten-year strategic partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The agreement was signed back in 2018.
