WWE has entered the final month of the year, and the company will close the calendar year with Saturday Night's Main Event in Washington. Meanwhile, John Cena addressed his future as a performer and reiterated that he will retire following his last match.
John Cena's legendary WWE career is set to end in about a week from now at Saturday Night's Main Event. While the final opponent will be determined on Friday Night SmackDown, The Franchise Player was seen promoting his final-ever match and provided a reality check to the fans.
After an appearance on The Ringer, The Never Seen Seventeen tweeted on X and reiterated that his retirement is confirmed following his final match in Washington. The 5-time United States Champion thanked the fans for the long ride and promoted the event.
"One thing has been certain for the entirety of the Last Time Is Now Farewell tour has been its finality. After Dec 13th, I will no longer compete in a @WWE ring. Thankful to all those who came along for the ride and who will be watching #SNME! Thank you @BillSimmons and @ringer for the time to chat about the business I care about so much," Cena tweeted on X.

John Cena Sr. on his son's final WWE opponent
For over a decade, John Cena was the face of the Stamford-based promotion under Vince McMahon's regime and one of the hardest workers behind the scenes. However, the retirement tour hasn't lived up to the expectations, and John Cena Sr. isn't a fan of the potential pick for his son's final match.
Speaking on the All Axxess podcast, the veteran stated that Cena shouldn't face Gunther, as the two-time World Heavyweight Champion doesn't need a match with The Franchise Player. Moreover, he stated that The Never Seen Seventeen should put a young talent over on his way out instead of The Ring General.
While Gunther isn't a lock, previous reports have indicated that the 38-year-old RAW star will be John Cena's final opponent. The finals will conclude on this week's Friday Night SmackDown between LA Knight and Gunther.
