John Cena has reiterated over and over again that he will hang up his wrestling boots once and for all following Saturday Night's Main Event 2025 on December 13th. However, Bully Ray believes The Rock could shockingly return and lure The Leader of Cenation to have another match, possibly at WrestleMania 42.

Gunther was determined as Cena's final opponent after besting LA Knight on SmackDown last week. The Ring General has already retired Goldberg in the past and is currently the favorite to defeat the 17-time WWE Champion, too. While it remains to be seen how things pan out come Saturday night, there's no doubt that the two performers would leave no stone unturned to deliver a match for the ages.

Amid this, Bully Ray has made a wild pitch on the latest episode of Busted Open Radio. The WWE veteran believes The Rock could show up at SNM 2025 to set up a third and decisive match against John Cena for WrestleMania 42. Ray argued that a star of Cena's stature deserved to end his career at a stage like Mania.

"For some reason, I don’t think this ends in Washington, D.C. for John Cena. And I would not be shocked if in the midst of all of the happy, happy, joy, joy, [Rock’s theme song] ‘If you smell what The Rock is cooking [plays]. I’ve said this before, it just doesn’t sound right — John Cena, last match, Washington, D.C., Saturday Night’s Main Event. What sounds right is John Cena, last match, WrestleMania, Las Vegas.” (H/T - TJRWrestling)

The Rock addressed John Cena's WWE retirement

The Rock, who's a member of the board of directors of TKO, WWE's parent company, recently discussed Cena's retirement in an interview. The Final Boss mentioned that while he had some influence over the creative direction, The Leader of Cenation was firmly the driving force behind his own retirement storyline.

"I have a tiny bit of influence in the booking of it, but it's really just...it's whoever John [Cena] wants. Really, that's what it comes down to. Whoever he wants, that should be... It's not me, or Nick Khan, or Triple H. It's just, it's whoever John wants. That guy has earned it," said The Rock.

Several stalwarts of the business are expected to be in attendance to witness Cena's final hurrah, and it remains to be seen if The Rock manages to find the time to grace the event on December 13th.
