The star in question is none other than the current Women's Intercontinental champion Maxxine Dupri. A few weeks ago on RAW, the 28-year-old WWE talent won her first championship in the promotion when she beat Becky Lynch at Madison Square Garden.

After joining the main roster as an on-screen director of talent for the Maximum Male Models, Dupri has come a long way. During an appearance on the Battleground Podcast, she was asked about dealing with criticism when she was green in WWE, with questions over her in-ring ability.

She said it wasn't easy, and after she started making mistakes, she felt defeated.

"You know, it was hard. It was like it was challenging. I don't want to lie about that. It was one of those things where I feel like when I first started, I had a lot of support, and I was so excited, and then I think I put a lot of value in that, right? And then I was learning on the road, and I was making mistakes, and I was doing things that I wasn't proud of. I was coming back, like, 'Why did I just perform that way? Why did I fall short?' And I was very, very defeated," she said.

The Alpha Academy member added that she had two options at that time. Either to quit what she was doing or get down to work and improve herself.

"But it's like I have one of two options. I could quit and leave defeated and whatever, move on. Or I could put my head down and work hard so that the next time I get an opportunity, I can prove to them that I am capable, reliable, willing to learn, and able to perform in a ring toe-to-toe with Becky Lynch. And that's what I chose to do," she added.

Maxxine Dupri had an out-of-body experience after winning her first WWE title

Maxxine Dupri had gotten the better of Becky Lynch twice prior to her Intercontinental title win. However, those wins came via disqualification and count-out.

The championship win at MSG on WWE RAW was a shocking moment not only for the fans but for Maxxine as well.

On the Battleground Podcast, she mentioned that the roar of the crowd as she won the title electrocuted her body and that it was an out-of-body experience.
