"I don't need any lawsuits from this" - WWE veteran opens up on his heat with Roddy Piper (Exclusive)

Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently spoke about his real-life heat with "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. The wrestling legend confronted him during a TNA live event back in 2002.

Roddy Piper showed up at a TNA Pay-Per-View event back in 2002. He picked up a mic and started shooting at Vince Russo. He called out the wrestling writer for running WCW out of business. He then accused Russo of playing a role in the death of Owen Hart.

During a recent episode of BroDown with host Mac Davis, Russo recalled being in the arena at the time. He felt that he needed to stop Piper, and so he rushed into the ring.

"I'm outside the doors of the National Fair Grounds, and Piper is cutting his promo. Now he starts about me killing Owen Hart. Yeah, because I was the writer. So he starts talking about me, and he goes on and on. I'm in the back and I'm getting furious and furious. I say to myself if nobody is gonna shut this guy up, I'm going in the building and I'm shutting him up myself. So the timing was when I walked in from my entrance way, he was in the ring, and his back was turned. I walk in the ring, I get in the opposite corner, he turns around and sees me, having no idea I'm in the state of Tennessee."

Russo spoke about the tense exchange between the two men as the show was live on air. He kept thinking to himself if he would try and take down Roddy Piper. However, he mentioned that he did not want any lawsuits and decided against it.

"I swear to God, this is what's going through my mind. I don't know what he's gonna do. I'm thinking to myself, should I just lay-dive him and take my chances before he kicks my a*s. Then what was going through my mind was Hogan hitting me with that defamation of character. I'm like, bro, I don't need any lawsuits from this."
